Utilities
Heres stuff i use throughout the whole process.
Laminar Flow Hood
My apartment where I work on cards is pretty dusty, Air Purifier isn't enough so i got this to help with keeping dust off the cards while im working on them. Its especially important to keep dust off the cards when getting them ready to be pressed.Digital Microscope
I use this to inspect the card and also when cleaning, its rechargeable so i dont have to plug it in when using. You don't want to use the clips on the stand. The clips are actually in the way sometimes, i'm seeing if i can 3D print an alternative, once i think of something good, i'll post it here.Parchment Paper
Used when dealing with heat, aswell as keeping cards from sticking to acrylic plates.
Cleaning
- Micro Fiber Wipes
Wiping away excess cleaning solution - Detail Foam Cleaning Swabs
Used to rub off dirt and grime with distilled water or a cleaning solution - Foam Cleaning Swabs
Used to apply Kurt's Polish and my own DIY abrasive solution. - Kurt's Card Polish
Seems to be what everyone uses, it was easier to buy than to make my own polish. - Round Powder Puffs
Usually use these to clear excess polish off, easier to keep track of what the polish is on, instead of using the microfiber cloths to wipe everything.
Adding Humidity
- Humidor
What I usually use to humidify cards, makes them soft a malleable. - Tool Box Liner
Most people use this for Humidity Storm, I sometimes use it as a work area,
Shaping the card
- Bone Folder
Used to work on creases, edges, corners... - Thermo Pen
Used on tougher creases on holofoil cards, make sure to use something inbetween the card and the pen, as well as have parchment paper underneath the card because the heat can make the card stick to whatever surface you're working on. - Heat Resistant Acetate Sheets
Usually use this between the Thermo Pen and the card, somepeople use patchment paper or somthing similar.
Pressing
- Acrylic Sheets
Used to press the cards, either with cut pieces of the tool box liner to add humidity or with a card sleeve or something to flatten the cards - Trigger Clamps
Add pressure directly over creases and problem areas. - Phone Repair Clamps
both of these are used to clamp down the acrylic sheets, depends on how much pressure you're looking to use.
Drying
- Blotting Paper
helps absorb moisture when drying the card, still experimenting with it. But I've tried using it in the heatpress aswell as with the acrylic sheets - Brooder Plate
Experimental, i've used it to dry out cards by placing it above cards being flattened between acrylic sheets. Does not get as hot as the heat press but quite a bit cheaper.
Heat Press
- Heat Press
Theres plenty available but this is the one i've been experimenting with, still figuring out the best way of going about it. - Aluminum Metal Sheets
Used with heat press, there may be other uses aswell.
